5 Must-Do Activities on Menorca During Your Vacation

1. Naveta des Tudons

This prehistoric chamber tomb is located near to Ciutadella and is arguably the best of all of the historic attractions on the island. You can easily arrange to visit the tomb, which is about 3,400 years old, but you cannot venture inside. Still, even from the outside it is very interesting.

2. Castle of San Felipe

This castle in Mahón is one of the most interesting things to see if you visit this town during your stay on Menorca. Villas located away from the town will allow you to stay near a beach in a peaceful resort and then travel by car or bus into Mahón to see its many attractions. You can arrange to take a tour around the castle, with many tunnels to explore. It tells the story of the British and French history of the island and the local guides are an excellent source of information.

3. Torre d’en Galmés

This is another of the top historic sites to visit when you stay in Menorca. Villas located in Son Bou are the best place to stay if you want to get easy access to this attraction, which consists of a fascinating Bronze Age site. There are many interesting features to discover here, including the stone structures known as talayots and various buildings including homes and a sanctuary.

4. Museum of Menorca

This is another attraction in Mahón, and an excellent place to find out some more about the history of this Balearic island. You will find the museum inside a restored Baroque monastery, and it contains an impressive collection of historical artefacts. The island is rich in historical sites and there have been many interesting finds over the years, so this is the place to find out about all of them.

5. Cala Morell Necropolis Caves

The site of the Necropolis Caves is one of the biggest attractions on the island. These caves were man made, not formed naturally, and they date back to the Iron Age. There are 14 caves in total and it is thought that they were used as dwellings as well as for burials. Many interesting artefacts have been discovered in the caves over the years and you can find some of these in the Museum of Menorca.
